New Android 5 handset due for release in Summer.

There’s a lot of excitement around when a new operating system is introduced as it opens the doors to lots of new and exciting features, but at the same time it also opens the doors to lots of kinks that need ironing out in the new software. The launch of the Android 5 operating system will be great for the services you can get from a mobile, but it may well also cause your mobile to crash quite regularly as certain apps and programs clash with the new operating system.

The new Android system, currently called Jelly Bean is scheduled for release later in the year, but due to the reason mentioned above, many people are apprehensive of the new software. The release is due to come out just before Windows 8, which will no doubt be met with similar levels of trepidation!

So it’s not long until the new system will be upon us and the current Andoid 4 (also known as Ice Cream Sandwich) hasn’t been around for very long but is already on the way out, just as we were all getting used to it!

No one is 100% sure what the main new features will be of the Android 5 system, people can only guess at this stage, but most industry experts agree that the main function of the update it to allow it to work better across a range of devices, including tablets, netbooks, laptops and smartphones.

It makes sense to develop the system to cover as many products as possible, but it is impossible to make a multiplatform code that is 100% accurate across all systems, as they all feature different size screens that make unification a real challenge. The benefit of it if they do pull it off is that you can then use the same apps and programs across all platforms, without having to find the mobile version for your mobile, then the desktop version for your laptop, etc.

The other area that may be improved upon is with the launch of Android 5 is the dual boot feature. This will allow users to have two operating systems on one device, such as Windows and Android. If it works out as planned you should be able to switch operating systems without restarting your device. This is a great feature that isn’t even available on PCs!

The main question when the new system is launched is will the uptake of new handsets continue, or will people simply keep their existing mobile, safe in the knowledge that they are used to and trust their current operating system. Many people may opt for SIM Only Deals where they get a new sim card with a new tariff, but keep their existing handset. SIM only contracts are certainly a great option for saving money during these tough economic times. There isn’t much time until the new OS is released, so we wont have to wait long to find out what sells the best!
